See the world from a Land Rover
We've been lucky! For 20 years we owned a Land Rover Defender while living in Hungary. That meant we became founder members of the Hungarian Land Rover Asociation and became active members of the Land Rover based Search and Rescue Team. Being centrally located in Europe meant that we could travel to interesting places fairly easily.
Countries Visited
Eastern Turkey, 40° 47.146'N, 41° 44.824'E
Naturally, Hungary became a regular off-roading venue. From there we have travelled throughout Europe but especially favoured Central and Eastern Europe including
Romania
Bulgaria
Czech Republic
Croatia
Greece
Slovakia
Slovenia and
Turkey.
Most of the time we camped in a tent, but if the weather turned bad we slept in the back of the Defender. Not very comfortable, but for one night's sleep it's no great hardship.
Have a look at the other pages and find photographs of some of our favourite places. The heading photo is inside the volcanic crater Nemrut Dagi near Tatvan, Turkey. 38° 37.400'N, 42° 16.525'E. There are 5 lakes inside the caldera and it is very, very peaceful.
This is not the Nemrut Dagi which has giant statues at the summit.
